The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work (2 Corinthians 9:6-8).
Our commitment to Christ and the church compels us to share our financial resources in the work of ministry at Oak Grove Church of the Brethren. This includes regular offerings to support the ongoing mission, ministry, and maintenance of the church program and opportunities to fund both occasional and one-time ministry opportunities.
You may contribute to any of the ministries described below by making an offering at a Sunday morning worship service, or online through our Tithely app. (Please note that Tithely charges a 2.9% fee for each transaction. You may wish to add that amount to your gift so that the church receives the full amount you intend.)
Oak Grove General Fund
Our congregation approved an operating budget of $317,710 for 2022, representing the basic program and day-to-day mission and ministry opportunities. Giving to the General Fund represents the primary way our members and friends financially support the our congregation. Offerings pay for Christian Education materials, music and instruments for our choirs, offerings to support outreach ministries of the Church of the Brethren and throughout the Roanoke Valley, and staff salaries.

Good Samaritan Fund
Emergency financial requests for housing and utility assistance across the Roanoke Valley are handled in partnership with the City of Roanoke and met through our Good Samaritan Fund. This fund is made possible by the proceeds from our annual Bazaar (held each October) along with occasional special offerings.
You may contribute to the Good Samaritan fund via our Sunday morning offering, by mailing a check to the church, or by selecting “Good Samaritan Fund” in the menu on the Tithely app.
Special Offerings
From time to time, our church leadership will make an appeal for a special offering. These might be to lend financial aid in a time of natural disaster (through Brethren Disaster Ministries), to support a special opportunity with one of our ministry partners, or meet an emergency need within the congregation.
